U/13 Mixed Doubles Tennis match v. Brambletye
Date: Tuesday 08.05.12
Final score: Brambletye 6 - LNDS 3
The U/13 mixed doubles tennis team managed to beat the weather but not the opposition, Brambletye, on Tuesday 8th May. Three doubles pairs formed the team, most of who were playing their first ever matches. Dominic Spicer and Lucy Muggridge proved the exception to the rule and won their three matches comfortably, dropping only three games in the process. The remaining pairs, Oliver Spencer/Shannon Rainer and James Price/Emily Turner found the going a little tougher but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. James Price, not one to hide his emotions, provided the entertainment with his ongoing ball by ball commentarty and encouraging support for his partner. A little more service practice is in order before the next matches. Final score LNDS 3, Brambletye 6.
U13 Hockey v RGS
Date: Tuesday 20.3.12
Girl of the match: Lucy Pugh
Result: Lost 0-3
Even though we lost against RGS, this was a much improved performance by the Year 7/8 girls. The team is slowly gaining in confidence during each match they play, and there is definitely the potential for a good squad. Defensively they were very strong and RGS did take a while to break through us. We certainly struggled to keep possession though and must work on dodging players and having the confidence to dribble with the ball. Lucy Pugh was strong in midfield and helped to control the game. She was awarded Girlie of the Game. Much to work on, but there was certainly evidence of improvement!!
Year 7 Trampolining Competition
Date: Tuesday 20.3.12
Result: Niamh Andrew 2 nd (Open) Zoe Papadopoulos 2 nd (Closed) Oscar Campbell 4 th (Open) Charlotte Jennings 9 th (Closed)
We only took a selected few to take part in this competition. We chose those who had been coming to trampolining club in the last few weeks to practise. The following pupils took part: Oscar Campbell, Zoe Papadopoulos, Niamh Andrews and Charlotte Jennings (Year 7s). The event took place at Warlingham School and we came away with two, second place awards. These went to Niamh Andrews, who competed in the Open Competition and Zoe Papadopoulos, who took part in the Closed Competition. All competitors did very well but nerves caused them to forget parts of the routine and consequently they were marked down.
U13 Netball
Date: Wednesday 21.3.12
Against: Versatility Tournament (Various)
Girl of the Game: Isabella Morgan
Result: second place
A brilliant performance by the whole team – we were unfortunate not to finish first. The girls played in a round robin versatility tournament against seven other teams. In total they won six games and lost one to a team who eventually won the tournament. This game nevertheless was tight the whole way, with the score at half time being 3-4 down. We went into the second half, still confident. A combination of some poor officiating and some weak passes meant the final score was a 7-5 loss. Everyone played exceptionally well throughout the day in every game and in every position they played. This made it difficult to choose a player of the tournament. However, for her consistency in every position and some outstanding interceptions in defence, Girl of the Game went to Ella Morgan. It was an enjoyable day and an excellent result.
U12 C Netball
Date: Thursday 22.3.12
Against: Sackville
Girl of the Game: Kate St Clair Alcock
Result: Win 12-9
Coming off an excellent tournament result, the girls were in high spirits. Kate St Clair Alcock was back to peak fitness and proved her worth by having a fantastic game as GK. Her discipline was excellent and she was turning the ball over well plus winning nearly every re-bound. Athene Charlton yet again had a great game at C and controlled the attacking play. At times we were a little scatty with our passing which allowed Sackville to come back into the match but Emily Breakell ensured that when we got the ball in our circle we scored a goal.
U12 B Netball
Date: Thursday 22.3.12
Against: Sackville
Girl of the Game: Zoe Papadopoulos
Result: 16-2
Two new players were introduced to the team: Rebecca Folkard and Shannon Rainer and they stepped up to the challenge and played really well. Anastasia Cavey played excellently in GK with numerous interceptions, but Zoe Papadopoulos won player of the match for her control in the centre court by playing the ball down really well. This was a great team performance which is reflected in the score. The Year 7 B team have really come on and are now starting to demonstrate the team they could be.
U11 Netball ISA National Netball Tournament Finals
Date: 21 March 2012
Result: 4th
Our Year 6 girls' netball team travelled to Rugby, Warwickshire on Wednesday 21st March to compete in the ISA National Netball Finals.
Riding high on the success of winning the London South Regional Tournament, they started the competition finals with confident and determined play.
The girls faced three group matches to start the tournament and we were ready to start our campaign in the first match against Hatherop Castle School. Our girls played fast, flowing netball from the first whistle and won the game 10 -2. We wanted to score as many goals as possible, to ensure in the event of a draw with one of the other teams, we would win the group. In our next game against Crackley Hall School the girls did just that. They were an absolute delight to watch. They completely dominated the game and delighted the crowd with their skilful play, winning extremely comfortably, 22 – 0. We had a tough encounter in our final group game against Howe Green House which resulted in a 2 – 2 draw.
Those extra goals in the previous match ensured that we won our group and progressed to the Quarter-Finals. Here we faced St. James’ School who started well, but could not match up to the quality of play from our girls and we once again won 10 – 5.
We were now in the semi-final against Ursuline. We had seen them play earlier in the day and thought that their skill did not match up to that of our girls. However, they proved quite difficult to play against. We had also felt that there were a couple of decisions that didn’t quite go our way and at the end of the match, the score was 6 – 6. A period of extra time had to be played to find an eventual winner and sadly our girls lost extremely narrowly, 8 – 7.
Our girls were extremely disappointed, as their hearts were set on winning the national title, but they still had a final match to play to decide the third and fourth place. We played well and it was a chance for all of our squad to play this last game. However, tiredness and disappointment had both set in and they lost this game 6 – 2.
I am so very proud of all of the girls. They played with such finesse, maturity and skill; they genuinely were, in my opinion, the classiest team there and on another day the title would have been theirs.
Many congratulations to Gracie Saunders, Stephanie Evans, Lily Parkin-Brown, Hannah Bycroft, Naomi Bool, Libby Williams, Molly Saunders, Annabel Telfer, Zara Coen and Molly Naulls. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support and help make the day very special.
Mrs T. Major
Congratulations to Francesca Penn
Date: 20.03.12
Congratulations to Francesca Penn who has been selected for the PDP (Player Development Programme) in Netball. The PDP is unique to the South Region and helps to make the bridge between the County and Regional programmes. Athletes are scouted from the County Academies and receive coaching from high performance coaches. Identified players are then invited to attend the Regional Academy Trials.
Francesca was successful after trialling with over 300 other girls. Only a small number were chosen to move on to this stage which is fantastic! Well done Francesca!

With all points added together we won the overall cup!
They all swam brilliantly, I am totally proud of them!

U11 Cross Country Success - Inter House Yrs 5, 6, 7 & 8
Date: 16 March 2012
The Inter House Cross Country Races started with a competitive Yrs 5 and 6 girls’ race. Lily Parkin-Brown stormed to victory wearing the red colours of St. George. In second place, Abby Jackson of St. Patrick’s House and in third place, Talia Patel of St. Andrew’s House. The Yrs 5 and 6 boys race was a similar event, with Oscar Wortley of St. Patrick’s House leading the pack from start to finish. Hot on his heels in second place was Dylan Holland of St. David’s House and in third place, Jack Hookway of St. George’s House.
Points were then combined with the results from the Yrs 7 and 8 races:
1st place - St. David's House
2nd place - St. Patrick's House
3rd place - St. George's House
4th place - St. Andrew's House
Well done to all the children who took part and helped achieve the results for their houses.
Mrs T. Major
Cross-country v Reigate St Mary's Competition
Date: 16 March 2012
We once again entered a boys and girls cross country team into the Reigate St. Mary's competition. Our boys ran very well against stiff opposition and secured third place in the team event. Oscar Wortley was our first boy home in seventh position, closely followed by Dylan Holland in eighth place; Jack Hookway in 21 st, Ted Wybourn 22nd, Richard Barker 24th, Ellison Bell 26th, Scott Lawrence 32 nd and Marcus Pengelly 35th. The great news is that the majority of our boys who did so well are still only in Year 4 or 5, so this bodes very well for the future.
Our girls were up to their usual winning ways and ran superbly to take 1st place in the team event. The familiar sight of the blue shirts of Lingfield Notre Dame, leading from the front, was on display again and we totally dominated the race. In first place Annabel Telfer, Lily Parkin-Brown second, Hannah Bycroft third, Abby Jackson fourth, Charlotte Sparrow tenth, Tatiana Wortley 16th, Livi Gray 18th and Naomi Bool 19th. Many congratulations to all of our determined runners.
U13 Surrey Netball Finals
Date: Friday 16th March
Girl of the match: Isabella Rousell
Result: Won 1, lost 4.
A disappointing day for the girls, unable to reach their full potential. Despite this, there were moments of brilliance, boosting our motivation throughout. Ella Rousell was our player of the tournament performing brilliantly in every game, ensuring we were still in contest in the games we lost. Our attack struggled, finding the right options and putting the ball in the net, but nevertheless, and in true LND, style the girls kept their heads high and will set the score right next year.
Year 7/8 Hockey District Tournament
Date: Wednesday 14th March
Girl of the match: Amelia Hawney
Result: 2nd, 1-0 Win V Reigate School, 1-0 Win V RAAS, 0-0 Draw V RGS and 2-0 Loss V Woldingham.
An excellent result for a slightly depleted team, with a brilliant performance on the day. Isabella Morgan scored both of our goals with some notable lead up play from Victoria Fudge, Cerys Bool and Lucy Bycroft. Amelia Hawney won player of the match, as she put on an amazing performance, playing in goal for the first time. Some of her saves were brilliant and gave her team mates a real surprise. Despite losing to Woldingham 2-0, it was a well contested game and at 1-0 we were unfortunate not to win a penalty corner. With 2 wins, 1 draw and a loss, the team finished in second place, a result the girls should be very pleased with.
U13A Netball v Dunottar
Date: Wednesday 14th March
Girl of the Game: Rosa McKechie
Result: Win 10-2
An excellent performance by all the girls, but notably Rosa Mckechie, who gave an outstanding performance as WD! She continually found the space and drove forward onto the ball to receive the pass, as well as giving support on the goal third line offering an option. Well done. The whole team played well together but they did take time to settle in and rushed the passes at times. Nevertheless, by the end of the first quarter, the team led by 4-0. The goal difference kept on increasing and after the team talk at half time, they found ‘their own’ and settled in to the game well, leading 9-1 by the end of the 3rd quarter, and finally winning 10-2 at the end. Well done to all involved!
Result: won 2:1
The senior boys’ team played Trinity with a depleted squad, which gave the opportunity for some newer players to step up to the mark. Missing Vice-Captain, Ian McCheyne and sweeper Kieran Hanspal in defence, led to a tentative start with Trinity creating the better of the opening opportunities. However, good organisation and thoughtful play from Richard Thorburn, Rupert Oscroft and James Budgen created a series of goal scoring opportunities for Michael Lewis and George Nicol which we couldn’t finish. The half time score of 0-0 was a welcome relief for Trinity as Lingfield had dominated the latter part of the first half. A defensive error at the start of the second half gave Trinity a 1-0 lead against the run of play. However with a tactical change and goals from Oscroft and Lewis, Lingfield fought back for a spirited victory. Special mention should go to David Waterhouse, who had a solid defensive display and Daniel Ellis who, playing three years below his age, fitted well into the team. Overall, this was another excellent result.
U13A Netball v Sackville
Date: Monday 12th March
Girl of the match: Alisha Bowen
Result: Win 25-11
The game started well with a nice turnover from Daisy Breakell. We used the possession well and scored with ease. Our attacking play was flowing well and we were making tips and interceptions all over the court. As play continued we did start to struggle coming forward but never the less when we got the ball to our shooters we were confident of a goal. Player of the match, Alisha Bowen was particularly in good form, scoring 100% stats.
U13B Netball v Sackville
Date: Monday 12th March
Girl of the Game: Emma Cording
Result: 20-5 Win
A nice win for the B team and a good team performance to match. Lucy Muggridge was shooting well, even having a go from the edge and scoring. Our possession was won mostly through tips and collections, proving that we were working well as a team. Despite the big goal difference, the girls kept up the intensity and showed why they deserved to win by 15 goals.
Senior School Success at the ISA National Cross Country:
With 12 qualifiers from the senior school for this year’s nationals, there was plenty of optimism on the bus on the way up. Despite some rain, the course was in good condition and the weather was set fair as the races began. First off were the U14 girls for whom we had 4 runners, Georgia Lunn, Rosie Underhill, Kate St Clare Alcock and Rio Barker. Rosie Underhill ran a superb race and finished 13 th; the first time she has got the better of Georgia in a race who finished 26 th after sustaining an injury. The younger pair finished a little further down the field but will have next year in the same age group to improve. In the boys U14 race we also had 4 runners, Tom Bentley, Lewis Bell, James Gibbons and Louis Goff. Tom Bentley and Lewis Bell got out with the early pace setters and at the end of the small loop, Tom was in the top 8 looking comfortable going up the hill. Lewis had dropped off the lead pack but was still in a good position. Going up the hill Tom continued to pick people off and he was in the top 5 coming into the home straight. A good burst secured him fourth comfortably, which was an excellent result for one of the youngest boys in that age group. He will be excited about the prospect of running next year with another year of experience as one of the older ones. Lewis also ran well and finished 21 st. Louis Goff and James Gibbons came in 35 th and 42 nd respectively.
In the U16 races we had one girl and two boys running. Alice Clutterbuck ran a solid race and worked exceptionally hard on the home straight to gain 12 th place. In the boys race, Sam Firmager and Josh Boorman ran well but both were slightly disappointed with finishes in the 30s. Jack Muggridge was looking to improve on a podium finish last year in the Senior boys race, however after a strong start he had to settle for 11 th which had highlighted his training had seen him pay too much attention to the weights machines and not enough time running. Overall there were some very good performances and all the runners represented London South very well. London South again improved on the overall position in nearly every age group. Our runners played a big part in this and can be very proud.
Mr R. Lewis
Match Reports Week beginning 5.3.12
U/14 Boys’ Hockey v Caterham - Away
Date : Saturday 10 th March
Resul t: Lost 0-3
Man of the Match : Ed Rolfe
A flattering score line for Caterham masked an encouraging all-round display from Lingfield Notre Dame. The boys started brightly, closing down their opponents quickly as well as utilising both wings effectively when moving forward. Ryan Carey, Jack Williams, Callum Headings and man-of the match, Ed Rolfe provided a solid back line in front of Will Shackel in goal. Having taken the lead midway through the first half, both defences proved successful in limiting the chances at either end until Caterham scored two late goals, one of which was a penalty flick, hotly disputed by the visitors. Although defeated, the boys thoroughly enjoyed the match and there were a number of very encouraging performances which bodes well for the future.
Yr 9 Hockey v Caterham : 0-0
Date : Saturday 10 th March
Result : 0-0
Man of the Match : Ed Rolfe
This was a game played between two evenly matched teams that for long parts of the game, they cancelled each other out. In the first half, Lingfield Notre Dame had the greater amount of possession and thus created more opportunities. However, none of these were clear cut and the teams went in level. The second half was dominated by the visitors as they started to flood the midfield areas with players and made it difficult for us to gain possession. Despite this dominance they failed to create a clear opening either and therefore 0-0 was how it stayed and probably rightly so.
Lingfield First XI v Sackville
Date : 7 th March 2012
Result : Won 4-1
Man of the Match : Charlie Ead
The seniors racked up another win to make it 5 from 5 against Sackville. Lingfield went ahead within a minute of the kick-off after some good closing down by the forwards, the ball fell to Matt Griffin who beautifully bent the ball into the top corner from 25 yards. For the next twenty minutes Sackville dominated possession and gained a deserved equalizer after some poor defending from a corner. They were then awarded a penalty after Nathan Baily handled in the area. However, they dragged the penalty wide of the goal. Just before half-time, a flick on from Ben Wilson broke the offside trap and Captain Alex Taylor smartly finished through the keepers legs to make it 2-1. Lingfield started the second half brightly and after some great work from Matt Griffin down the wing, he provided a tap in for Alex Taylor to make it 3-1. The game was finally sealed when Alex Taylor got his hat trick after going past 2 players in the box and slotting home into the bottom corner to cap an excellent win. Charlie Ead gained the man of the match award for his solid performance at the heart of the defence.

U12A District Netball Tournament
Date: Monday 5th March
Girl of the Game: Athene Charlton
Result: 3 rd in Group (3 wins, 2 losses)
A brilliant performance by the team, who were very unfortunate not to qualify for the semi-finals. The A team today saw a bit of a mix up and some new faces making the team, after a wobbly first game losing 7-0 to RGS, I made a few changes and this seemed to do the trick. The girls worked particularly well as a team and the spirits were high. We were attacking the ball in front of our players and making turnovers throughout the court. We won the next 3 games comfortably. Our last game in the group stages was against St Bedes, who we knew we had to beat, as it was between us and them to qualify. Unfortunately due to some poor umpiring decisions we were unable to do enough and lost 4-2, meaning we finished 3rd in the group. This said, improvements were really seen in this team today and they should all be proud.
U12B District Netball Tournament
Date: Monday 5th March
Girl of the Game: Rosa Mckechie
Result: Semi Finals (1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss)
The girls had a thoroughly enjoyable and successful afternoon. Despite the bitter wind and cold temperatures, the girls continued to fight solidly until the end. The team was well captained by Rosa McKechie who was also awarded girl of the tournament! The whole team played well together but there are still a few areas for improvement in terms of passing and taking time to release the ball to free players. Nevertheless, the individual games scores were as follows: Loss to Woldingham B 3-1. This score does however not reflect the overall game as it should have either been a draw or a win for us as we had possession quite a lot. In their second game, once they became more settled, they drew to St Bede's 1-1 and won the final game against Reigate 3-0. The team should be proud of their performances as they got through to the semis and lost to RGS 8-0. Well done to you all.
U15A Netball v Dunottar
Date : Thursday 8th March
Result: Won 22-11
Girl of the Game: Lauren Norris
This was a great game for the U15 and with the Surrey Finals on Sunday it gave me the opportunity to try various different combinations knowing we were missing a shooter for Sunday (due to illness). Lauren Norris was back on form, shooting well and dictating the attack. Jaynie Clayton performed well in all of the 3 positions she played, demonstrating her versatility and ability to settle quickly. We started strongly only allowing Dunottar to score once in the first quarter. As we entered the second half we began to tire and as a result, we started to drive sideways rather than forwards therefore allowing Dunottar to gain possession and take advantage of this. Overall a beneficial game for both players and coach and an excellent of 22-11 win.
U14A Surrey Netball Finals
Date: Friday 9th March
Girl of the Game: Anastasia Lewis
Result: 3 rd in Group
A great result for a significantly weakened team due to injury. Anastasia Lewis was excellent in attack receiving every other pass and shooting well. The defence were doing a brilliant job of adapting to different styles of play quickly. We were unfortunate with a couple of results due to lack of options going forward but overall a pleasing day.
U15A Surrey Netball Finals
Date: Sunday 11th March
Girl of the Game: Jaynie Clayton
Result: 3 rd in Group
Our first game was against Alleyns and we made a fabulous start winning 10-3. We were all in the zone and turning the ball over well. Unfortunately after a big break we were unable to put this in place again in our second game and we lost 8-3. However we brushed this result off and got back on to winning form winning our next 2 games. This meant that we had to win the next game to go through. Our last game was against Guildford High and from the onset we knew this would be a challenging game with the majority of their team being over 6ft. Despite this we scored the first goal and moved the ball around well, however with the benefit of a 6ft plus GS we were unable to stop the ball going in with ease. In the end this had an negative effect on us and we lost our flow losing 10-4.
On Friday 2nd March the U11A Football team went to Dulwich Sports Club to play in the ISA London South Regional 5-a-side football event. Drawn in a very tough group and in cold conditions, the boys got off to a great start with a 1-0 victory over Rosemead ‘B’, with Matthew Brown finishing a well worked team move. After this we played a strong Elmhurst side and although dominating for long periods of the match we could not score our chances and lost the game 1-0. This became the story of our day as we dominated from start to finish against Virgo Fidelis in the next match, creating a host of chances, but found the post and an inspired keeper in our way. Virgo Fidelis scored on their only foray into our half of the pitch in the game. In our penultimate group game we played Oakfield in a close fixture but again found ourselves on the wrong end of a 1-0 score line.
In our final group game the boys played with a bit more freedom and gave eventual winners, Shoreham College, a real run for their money, despite losing 2-0. Again, the boys created chance after chance and were unlucky not to score, as the goalkeeper made a triple save from Callum Sargent and Scott Lawrence, who went close twice.
The whole team played well throughout. Jack Hookway was brave in goal and was supported by Daniel Bishun and Cavan Barber in defence who were solid and organised throughout the games. The midfield of Oscar Wortley, Scott Lawrence, Callum Sargent and Matthew Brown had to work tirelessly throughout, up and down the pitch, to create chances going forward as well as supporting defensively.
I am proud of the boys and their efforts on the day.
Mr R Kempson
Date: Monday 27th February
U15A Netball v RGS
Girl of the Game: Sasha Bentman
Result: Loss 27-1
This was an exciting match for the girls and they all did exceptionally well. They kept fighting throughout and it was end to end play. The overall score does not reflect the actual game. The possession of the ball was even and each team fought for it but when we did get the ball at our end, we either lost it due to passing or not being able to convert it into the net! However, each time RGS had a chance to shoot, they did get the ball in the net and therefore the score ran away and we could not catch up! Well done to all but especially Sasha Bentman, who got a number of outstanding interceptions and really helped keep us in the game.
Date: Monday 27th February
SNR Netball v RGS
Girl of the Game: Roz Hollands
Result: Loss 23-11
The girls had a depleted team due to injury or academic commitments and had no reserve players. We were lacking a shooter and Alice Johnson had spent time trying to practice shooting that day. She started at GS for the first quarter but we missed her in centre court. After a quick re-shuffle at quarter time, everyone was feeling happier about their position. Roz Hollands took a fall and play had to be stopped while she was patched up! She played on and although the girls had a positive attitude, the whistle went and the girls had lost significantly.
Date: Monday 27th February
U15A Netball v RGS
Girl of the Game: Jaynie Clayton
Result: Loss 23-11
Due to illness and injury the U15As were down to a bare 7 combining a mix of players - some from year 9. With this in mind we knew this was going to be a tough game. Unfortunately we were unable to convert our opportunities which meant that after a promising first quarter 3-4 we were unable to keep RGS in sights. Jaynie Clayton however had a brilliant game taking the WA out the game and making many interceptions throughout the court. Despite the loss, the girls remain positive and are aware of what we have to improve on.
Date: Monday 27th February
U16A Netball v RGS
Result: Loss 21-17
We started off very strong in the first few minutes, with the ball going back and forth from our end to theirs, and the score was a draw at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, we then pulled away due to a turnover produced by the defensive team consisting of Francesca Penn and Anna Washington. The attack then worked it down court showing great skill and Harriet Houlton finished it off with a great goal just before the half time whistle. In the second half, it was clear that we were tiring as we didn't keep up the great skill we had shown in the first half and with just a squad of 7 we were unable to make any changes. Unfortunately we then lost our lead and we were down by 4 goals. During the fourth quarter we fought hard to regain the lead, however this wasn't possible in such a short space of time and the final score was a loss of 21-17.
Date: Tuesday 28th February
U13A Netball v Ashdown House
Girls of the Game: Victoria Fudge and Daisy Breakell
Result: Loss 33-6
Due to illness and injury, the girls underperformed today and as a result they were not on top form and lost the game. Nevertheless, there were some outstanding performances from certain individuals. Victoria Fudge played Centre and applied continual pressure throughout the game and notably on Ashdown's Centre passes. Daisy Breakell also performed exceptionally well in the defensive circle and got many tips on the ball, regaining possession for the team but unfortunately we just couldn't convert the attack into a goal at the other end! The girls really now need to focus and get prepared for their Surrey Finals Tournament this weekend. We wish them all the best with that.
Date: Tuesday 28th February
U12 Hockey 7-side District Tournament
Girl of the Game: Athene Charlton
Result: 3rd
With The Beacon, RAAS, Oxted, Woldingham (A and B) and RGS (A and B) all attending this tournament, it was nice to see some other schools in the District playing hockey, and giving us new opponents to play against other than Woldingham and Reigate Grammar School. We took a while to get going, with the girls feeling a little intimidated but we certainly held our own. Scores were 0-1 Loss against Woldingham (a game we should have drawn in but Woldingham scored in the last few seconds), 0-0 against Oxted (a game we should have won), 0-1 loss against RGS A, and 2-0 Win against RGS B (with Rio Barker scoring two amazing solo goals). Well done to a good team performance and a particular strong performance from Athene Charlton.
Date: Wednesday 29th February
U14A Netball v Dunottar
Girl of the Game: Florence Jackson
Result: Win 11-8
A slight under performance by us but the result was well deserved and we were still the better team. Flo Jackson started for the team today and really took control of the GS position missing only 1 in the first half. Play in the first half was end to end with both teams scoring and turning the ball over well. With this in mind, I made some big changes, altering almost the whole team. However this was exactly what the girls needed and we were able to show a good team performance bringing the score from 6-5 down to a 11-8 win. A good win ahead of the Surrey Schools finals on Sunday.
Date: Wednesday 29th February
SNR Netball v Dunottar
Girls of the Game: Olivia Johnson and Alexandra Airey
Result: Win 23-7
The girls were unsure of the starting positions and after Monday's defeat against RGS, they were a little apprehensive. They started with turning over the first centre to score the first goal of the match. Olivia Johnson played GS and was sinking shots from everywhere in the D. Roz Hollands and Laura Washington showed some outstanding defence, tipping numerous balls and giving away minimal penalties. By half time the girls were winning by 8 goals.
The second half saw some changes and the girls extended their lead further. Alice Johnson, Alexandra Airey and Jo Hoggins played some excellent attacking centres that had been worked on in practice. The girls’ attitude and performance was commendable throughout and it was extremely pleasing to see them in such high spirits.
Date: Thursday 1st March
U13 A and B Various Tournament
Girls of the Game: Alisha Bowen and Imogen Brown
Result: U13A Semi Finalist U13B 3 rd in round robin.
U13A – Made improving progress throughout the day getting to the semi- finals against St Bedes. This was a great game and the score at the final whistle was 6 - all. This led to an extra time situation of 2 minutes. Unfortunately the girls just missed out losing 8-7.
U13B – Had a mixed day; winning half their games and losing the rest. However, this was enough to finish 3 rd in a well enjoyed tournament.

Year 10 Football v Shoreham
Man of the Match: Tim Franks
Result: Lost 1-3
Injuries to key players resulted in an unfamiliar line-up for the Year 10 team. Early Shoreham goals left LNDS three goals down after 25 minutes, although it was clear that there was little to choose between the teams. The deficit was reduced to two when Jez Martin whipped in a free-kick which was inadvertently deflected by one of the Shoreham players into his own net. A much improved second half defensive performance enabled LNDS to keep a clean sheet, with notable performances from centre back Max Filskow and player of the match, Tim Franks at left back.

Year 7 Rugby v Copthorne Prep
Man of the Match: Finley Edwards
Result: Won 32-24
This was certainly a game of two halves. Copthorne dominated the initial proceedings; scoring three early tries, utilising to great affect the electric pace of one of their key players. LNDS realised that they possessed a potent weapon in the form of Finley Edwards, who took advantage of a tap and go penalty to penetrate the Copthorne back line. A stern half-time lecture paid dividends as the boys barely allowed the visitors beyond the half way line. A 24-5 deficit was overturned with a superb team performance full of endeavour and spirit. The boys were thrilled to run out eventual winners, 32-24. Excellent performances were numerous, but there was a clear man-of-the match in captain Finley Edwards.

Senior Football v Bethany
Result: Won 4-1
Man of the Match: Matt Barrie
The seniors have now won 4 from 4 with an excellent win over Bethany school. It was a tight game initially, with Bethany creating a few chances. Former Lingfield student Connor Kirkbright missed a sitter from 3 yards with a header. Bethany then took the lead when a shot rebounded into the path of a Bethany player who put the ball into the open goal. Just before half-time, Matt Barrie delivered a free kick towards the far post and with the help of the wind and the sun in the keeper’s eyes, the ball somehow ended up in the top corner to make it 1-1. Shortly after half-time, Lingfield went 2-1 up when Captain Alex Taylor flicked the ball on for Ben Wilson who finished superbly into the far corner. Two minutes later, Matt Barrie was fouled on the edge of the box, Alex Taylor stepped up and bent the ball into the far corner leaving the keeper with no chance. Mr Bool then came in to referee the last twenty minutes and, after giving a somewhat soft penalty to Lingfield, Matt Barrie got his second and his third penalty of the season.

Year 8 Rugby v Ashdown House
Result : 38-21
Man of the Match: Jack Williams
Having given the home side a three try start in the first ten minutes, as our players appeared to still be on the bus, it was never going to be easy. Gradually we started to wake up and play the way that we have been playing in the past few matches and we grabbed a try back with good work from Jack Williams. This however was soon cancelled out by the home team to leave the score at 28-7 at half time. The boys knew at half time that they had been underperforming and got themselves fired up for the second half. The performance in the second period was much better and good tries from Oli Drummond and Callum Headings were converted by Sam Allan. We created enough opportunities in the second half to close the gap further but our defensive organisation was lacking somewhat and two further tries were conceded. It was a slightly disappointing performance and result from a group that have been playing well of late.
29 February 2012
Result Won 3-0
In only the second mixed game of the season, the team gelled well and produced a great team performance. The team press worked well and Sackville struggled to get the ball out of their half for long periods of the game. The score somewhat flattered a slightly weakened Sackville, as Lingfield spurned chances to win the game by a far greater margin. Maddy Thompson played well up front and showed her dribbling skills to create changes and score. Notable performances also came from Amy Jones who was solid in defence and James Budgen who adapted well to playing in the centre of midfield. Overall, the team passed the ball well and created many chances but just need to be more clinical in finishing.
29 February 2012
Result Lost 2-3
Boxhill School brought a strong team of U15s to face our U15 side, which comprised almost entirely all of Year 9 pupils. Based on this, the performance was pleasing even if the result was slightly disappointing. The game was even for large periods, and even though we fell behind to a breakaway goal, we responded instantly with a goal from a short corner scored by Daniel Ellis. After half time, the team pressed Boxhill but were punished with a breakaway goal. Although we responded with 5 mins to go we were cruelly punished in the last 2 minutes as we failed to clear defensive lines. Strong performances came from Josh Drummond in defence and Ed Rolfe as sweeper. The team should look to build on this performance for their future matches.

Age: U14A Netball
Against: Woldingham
Girl of the Game: Chloe Roberts
Result: Win 22-9
Report: This was a brilliant game for the U14A, everyone played well and I was especially pleased with the whole court defence. The girls really worked as a team from GS to GK to prevent the ball getting to the shooters; forcing many errors and gaining lots of turnovers. Chloe Roberts as C linked play well and was key in the defence of her team, picking out interception in every third. A great team performance and a brilliant win against a good Woldingham side.
Date: Wednesday 22nd Feb
Age: U14B Netball
Against: Woldingham
Girl of the Game: Georgina Campbell
Result: Loss 12-1
Report: The game was tough but well fought by all players and in particular Georgina Campbell, who was determined to win every ball. Although we lost 12-1, the score did not reflect the possession that we had throughout the game. We did win the ball back on many occasions and also got it into our attacking third but we just could not get the ball successfully into the circle in order to shoot. We do now need to work on successful and accurate passing as well as driving forward more quickly for the ball. Nevertheless, the team played well considering they have had very little game play together and were also well supported by some Year 8's.

Age: U16A Netball
Against: Woldingham
Girl of the Game: Charlotte Fay
Result: Win 19-6
Report: The girls were ahead from the whistle and showed that they were the more skilled team. Harriet Houlton was shooting well with help from Sarah Hipkiss. Olivia Johnson dominated centre court, with outstanding defence from Charlotte Fay (girl of the game) and Frankie Penn. By half time the girls were winning 12-3. Anna Washington tipped numerous balls to prevent Woldingham from scoring in the third quarter. The final whistle showed LNDS victorious with a score of 19-6.
Date: Thursday 23nd February
Age: U12B and U13B Netball
Against: Warlingham
Girls of the Game: U12B Megan Muller U13B Emma Cording.
Result: U12B Win 10-3 U13B 12-6
Report: Both teams started off exceptionally well and held their own. At the end of the first quarter the U12Bs were winning 4-0, as the ball hardly came into their defensive end. This was very similar for the U13Bs who were also wining 3-0. Our teams continued to perform well throughout the match and fought solidly as a united squad, giving one another support and options. Both teams continued to perform excellently and it was only after half time that Warlingham started to fight back. Nevertheless, the determination from our girls to win every ball was so satisfying to watch, enabling us to win 10-3 for the U12s and 12-6 for the U13s. Well done to you all especially Megan Muller and Emma Cording who were girls of the game!

Age: Year 7/8 Hockey
Against: Royal Alexandra and Albert School
Girl of the Game: Georgia Lunn
Result: Win 3-0
Report:
The girls arrived in a confident mood, having beaten this team earlier in the season. From the first whistle it was clear that the opposition were still in the early stages of their hockey development with many not positionally aware. This meant that many of our players were able to find space easily and keep position for long periods. This led to scoring opportunities, the first of which was tucked away neatly by Ella Morgan after two minutes. The match continued in this fashion throughout and we managed to score two more goals before half time. The aim for the second half was to pass the ball around and maintain possession rather than just hitting into space and hoping that one of our players would get it. We did this well in the second half and looked a better side as a result. Whilst we did not add to the score in the second half (mainly due to a vast improvement in the oppositions defending), we had much better structure to our play which will be essential for tougher matches in the future.
