The Sixth Form at Lingfield Notre Dame offers small teaching groups which means that Staff have more time for individuals, thus ensuring that all students achieve the best possible results. Unlimited time is made available for careers and counselling. This is particularly important as the range of post-A Level courses grows and competition for degree courses increases.

For students to cope with the demands of Sixth Form courses, external applicants will require at least six ‘A’ grades at GCSE. In order to study a subject at A Level, applicants must have achieved at least an A grade at GCSE in that subject.

Initially students are invited to attend our Open Morning in the October before entry is required. This is closely followed by our VI Form Options Evening when students have the opportunity to speak to Heads of Departments. The Head of VI Form also talks about life in our VI Form, what is expected from our students, careers guidance and the procedure for entrance to universities. Copies of our VI Form Options Booklet are distributed.

Any student then wishing to pursue entry will complete a Registration Form and return it together with the non-refundable registration fee of £50 and a copy of their birth certificate, to the Admissions Office. A tour of the school and a meeting with the Headmaster is then arranged. These take place during a working morning. Following this a ‘Taster Day’ is arranged to co-incide with the subjects that the student is interested in studying at A level. This also gives an insight into life in the VI Form, the opportunity to meet fellow students and sample some lessons. During this day an interview will take place with the Head of VI Form. We then take up references from the student’s current school, detailing their mock and predicted grades at GCSE.

The deadline for all VI Form applications is 31 st March.

In April we send out the contracts to students whose applications have been successful. These need to be returned within a 2 week timescale, with a holding deposit, which is only refundable if the required grades are not met.

All students are expected to take at least 4 subjects at AS level in the Lower VI and at least 3 subjects at A2 level in the Upper VI.

Scholarships are available to students entering Lingfield Notre Dame at VI Form level. The requirements concern their grades in their GCSE examinations and information on this can be found in the VI Form Options Booklet (downloadable here).
