Senior School Entry (Years 7 and 9) in September 2012

Our Senior School Open Morning will be held on 8th October 2011, from 9.45am to 1.00pm and you and your family will receive a warm welcome. There is always a packed programme of events to enjoy; no appointment is required - just come along at a time to suit you. The Headmaster will be addressing prospective parents and pupils at 10.00am and again at 11.30am and we recommend planning your morning to be here for either of those times. Guided tours will be available, when you will be able to speak to Teaching Staff and view our outstanding facilities. Following Open Morning, if you have not had the opportunity to have an informal chat with the Headmaster or a tour of the school, please call the Admissions Officer who will be pleased to arrange a suitable appointment for you and your child to visit. These appointments are limited, so please do not delay in arranging this.

Please download, complete and return the documents listed below before the deadline of 1st December 2011. ALL APPLICATIONS ARE ACKNOWLEDGED, so if you do not receive an acknowledgement after two weeks, please call us in case something has gone astray in the post. The acknowledgement contains important information about the examinations which you will need. Following registration, we will apply to the student's current school for an up to date reference.

The Entrance Exam takes place on the morning of Saturday 21st January 2012. Results will be issued in the post on Friday 10th February 2012. The deadline for acceptance of any place offered is 2nd March 2012 at midday.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL US FOR RESULTS OF THE EXAMS - WE DO NOT GIVE RESULTS OUT OVER THE PHONE.

After 2 March we will then be in a position to know if we have any places to offer those on the Waiting List.

General Information about the Examinations

  • The examination consists of three papers, English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning.
  • We do not supply copies of past/example papers to parents.
  • The content of the English and Mathematics papers is explained in the documents entitled Entrance Examination Guidelines (see links above)
  • Verbal Reasoning papers are available from high street booksellers or the internet and if your child has not seen a test like this it would be useful to familiarise them with the content. Purely as a guide, we mention the following websites that sell or supply free sample papers:

Key Stage 2 SATs papers would also be good preparation for the 11+ examination and are also available from high street booksellers or to download free of charge from various websites, for example:
