Events Timetable

• We would like to welcome you to our Senior School Open Morning on 9th October 2010, from 9.45am to 1.00pm. There is always a packed programme of events to enjoy; no appointment is required - just come along at a time to suit you. Mrs Shepley will be addressing prospective parents and pupils at 10.00am and again at 11.30am and we recommend planning your morning to be here for either of those times. Guided tours will be available, when you will be able to speak to Teaching Staff and view our outstanding facilities. The Principal will be on hand all morning and if your son/daughter has not met Mrs Shepley yet, this will be the ideal opportunity for him/her to do so.

• Return the non-refundable Registration Fee (£50 or £100 for candidates who wish to take the examination overseas), Registration Form, a copy of your child's Birth Certificate and an Entrance Examination Application Form.

• Academic Scholarships are awarded automatically to the top candidates following our entrance exam.

• If you wish to apply for an Music or Sports Scholarship, please read the document 'Scholarship & Bursary Criteria ', If you would like to be considered, please tick the relevant box on the Entrance Examination Application Form and return to us along with the supporting documentation before the closing date of 1 December 2010. Following the Entrance Examination, if your son or daughter reaches the required academic standard they will be invited in for an audition/assessment.
  
• If you wish to apply for a means-tested Bursary, please first read the document 'Scholarship & Bursary Criteria'. If you would like to be considered, please tick the relevant box on the Entrance Exam Application form and we will forward a 'Declaration of Income' form to you on which all household income must be declared.This should be supported by relevant documentation and should be returned to us before 1 December 2010. If the completed form and relevant documentation is not returned to us we will be unable to consider you for a Bursary.

• A request for a reference will be sent to your child’s current school.

• Entrance Examinations will be held on Saturday 15 January 2011.

General Information about the Examinations

• The examination consists of three papers, English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning.
• We do not supply copies of past/example papers to parents.
• The content of the English and Mathematics papers is explained in the documents entitled Entrance Examination Guidelines (see links below).
• Verbal Reasoning papers are available from high street booksellers or the internet and if your child has not seen a test like this it would be useful to familiarise them with the content. Purely as a guide, we mention the following websites that sell or supply free sample papers:

• Key Stage 2 SATs papers would also be good preparation for the 11+ examination and are also available from high street booksellers or to download free of charge from various websites, for example:

  Children applying for Year 7 entry should be aiming at an achievement of at least Levels 4-5 in Literacy and Maths.
